Configuring Global Settings


To access this window: choose the Global Settings option from the Tool Bar.


Use this window for advanced configuration of PerfectDisk.

Clicking the Global Settings tool from the Tool Bar opens the Global Settings window. You can always find the Global settings tool on all tabs (Defragmentation, Scheduling, and S.M.A.R.T) except for the Dashboard tab of PerfectDisk 12 .

The Global Settings window is divided into two panes: the left-hand pane highlights an item entry, and the corresponding right-hand pane provides relevant details. Left-hand pane entries include:

Item

Description

Program Options

Enables you to configure general settings for PerfectDisk, such as layout.ini file behavior, PerfectDisk display settings, and Close Button behavior.

Program Logs

Allows you to specify log destination settings.

Auto Update

Allows you to specify settings for installing updates.

Power Options

Allows you to specify settings for power options when a optimization pass is running and the computer is running on battery power.

Schedules

Allows you to specify settings for when a computer is off or in standing mode when a schedule is set to begin. Also allows you to adjust CPU and I/O settings for StealthPatrol.

Drive Options

Allows you to specify the types of drives allowed to be optimized.

System Resource Priority

This allows to specify CPU priority settings, Disk I/O throttling, and VSS settings.

Excluded Drives

Allows you to exclude drives of your machine from optimization and automated and scheduled tasks. The excluded drives will not appear in the drive list for automated and scheduled tasks.

Global Alert Settings

Allows you to specify the warnings and alerts.

S.M.A.R.T. Settings

Allows you to configure S.M.A.R.T. information settings displayed through PerfectDisk.

StealthPatrol

Allows you to configure OptiWrite and Auto-Optimization settings such as Screen Saver Mode and Automatic Mode.

Exchange Settings

Applies to PerfectDisk Exchange version only.

Virtual Environment

Applies to PerfectDisk virtual editions only.

Together, these items provide setting controls that determine the overall behavior for PerfectDisk. In the sections that follow, each of these items are reviewed.
